October 20, 2004
The PQL subcommittee met on OCtober 20, 2004,
9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
Lab Services Building, 8100 Lowry Blvd, Denver, Colorado. This memorandum
briefly summarizes the major topics discussed at this meeting.

The meeting was attended by: Laurie Peterson-Wright
(CDPHE), Greg Naugle (CDPHE), Larry Penfold (Severn Trent), Frank Johns
(Tetra Tech), Gary Beers (CDPHE), Ed Mead (City of Boulder), Lyn Fitzgerald
(Parsons), Corinne Bogert (Lockheed Martin), and Michael Lewis (USGS).
Define and Prioritize Objectives
1. Review and finalize interim PQL guidance document. Provide
redline of draft document to Dave Akers and PQL Workgroup. Interim guidance
document was drafted by Gary Beers.
2. For existing table of organic standards and PQL’s (proposed
and existing), fill in gaps for missing PQL’s. Table is currently
contained in draft interim PQL Guidance Document (original table was
removed from Regulation No. 61).
3. Establish standard QC procedures for any new PQL development.
4. Using interim PQL guidance document and existing CDPHE policy as
a starting point, develop site specific PQL guidance.
Identify Tasks and Action Items Prior
to Next Meeting
1. Review other state PQL policies. (Gary and Corinne)
2. Review and provide comments on draft interim PQL Guidance Document.

3. Beginning with a few of the organics lacking PQL’s and utilizing
the existing literature, fill in gaps in PQL table. Laurie will evaluate
this process for a few compounds and depending on her degree of success
and the repeatability of the process, those remaining compounds that
are missing PQL’s may be divided up between other subcommittee
members for completion.
Next Steps
1. Report out on subcommittee activities to Dave Akers and
the PQL Workgroup at next workgroup meeting on 10/26/04. (Michael)
2. Next meeting planned for Wednesday December 1, 2004 at CDPHE Lab
Services Bldg.
